Solitude

Recently I recorded a digital ensemble piece that was written some time ago but was just music notation only. It was a completed song, ready to come to life but I kept in the “vault” once I decided how it would come alive. A guitar instrumental? An orchestration piece? A solo piano piece? Well, after some internal debate I decided to try something I have never done before and make a piano piece with some subtle strings behind it.

At the time of writing, I have submitted this song for peer review through one music site so far, Reverb Nation. I didn’t expect much response, it’s a short, simple piece and it wasn’t like having a professional review of an entire album by a rag mag or professional music critic website. Also, I am not familiar with the Reverb Nation audience or user base so it was more of an experiment.

Here are my results and a few amazing praises I am grateful to have received:

Facebook has also been kind to me so far:

These comments reflect my purposeful intention when I wrote the song. This is always the goal of any writer, that your story is conveyed similarly to your inspiration by the message you are sending. Of course all art is subject to free interpretation and opinions… which is spread all over the intellectual gamut. It’s always a gamble to create and release your work, you never know how it will be received.

I am of course humbled and grateful for the praise for this song. Blessings to all.
